How much does a chiropractic alignment costs?

Well great question and a little hard to answer.  An alignment (chiropractic adjustment) is usually $37 or $47 depending on the levels that we work on.  We are in network with most insurance companies and they reduce that bill, sometimes significantly.  We may do some physical therapy which is $27.  So those are our basic fees. What will a chiropractor do on the first visit?

It will be remarkedly similar to going to see any other doctor.  You will be asked to fill out forms about your current and past health history, a questionnaire to determine how badly your pain is affecting you, and some legal stuff from the Government.  Then you will be taken back to an examination room to have your blood pressure, height, weight, and temperature taken. The doctor will then come in and ask several questions about your pain, how long have you had it, what makes it worse, what makes it better.  The doctor will also ask about past surgeries and current medical conditions (these could affect your pain.)  Then the doctor will feel the area of pain, make your do range of motion (bending turning) do some orthopedic tests, and test some muscle strength.  If you are hurting really bad the doctor may put you on a muscle stimulation machine to relax tight muscles, and then you will be given a chiropractic adjustment.  You will be given some does and don’ts to do at home and you will get an email detailing your condition and what it will take to fix it. What does a Chiropractor Do?

Well mostly we help people get out of pain.  Most commonly is that we see patient will lower back pain, neck pain, and headaches, but we also see shoulder pain, knee pain, carpal tunnel.  These are some of the most common conditions that we treat.  How do we treat them?  Most of the time we use spinal adjustment where we move the bone a little bit and give it back its motion.  A lot of times theses vertebra will get stuck (or fixated) and cause muscles surrounding the joint to become tight and inflamed.  Every patient ALWAYS gets an exercises prescription that you can do at home.  Exercises has been shown to be the most effective long term treatment for back and neck problems.  So while we get the joint moving again exercise will help to keep it there and hopefully it will not come back.   So with chiropractic care you should notice increase range of motion almost instantly or very soon after your treatment.  Sometimes we use a machine called a low voltage muscle stimulator which is designed to relax tight muscles and numb pain a little bit (we have many patients fall asleep on this table.)  We also will use traction at times to help stretch out joints even more.  Check out our blog, YouTube, Facebook, and website for more information or you can call us at 512 556-8223.
